Hi! ~ Thank you for the new features; the Shiritori Chat game is very interesting! I think I might have found a bug; it seems that if a legal word is accidentally entered more than once, such as when pressing Enter twice on a keyboard, the computer responds with 'The word needs to overlap with the previous word'. From this point, it then seems to become impossible to play any words; entering the same word as before or any other word with legal overlapping characters on the last played computer word results in the same message. As an example,
The computer begins the game and plays ぼうし I enter しゅっぱつ, but press the Enter key twice The computer responds with 'The word needs to overlap with the previous word' I then enter しゅっぱつ once again, but only press the Enter key once The computer continues to respond with 'The word needs to overlap with the previous word' I then enter しあい, and press the Enter key once The computer once again responds with 'The word needs to overlap with the previous word'
Suggestion: Could you make it so the user can't submit if they didn't enter anything? Maybe make an alert or something?
Bug: I used a skipped a word and it played the same word.
On that note, would it be possible to not be able to play the same word twice?
Question: If you encounter a monster but don't defeat it, will it show up in the monsters category? (For Counter Punch too)
Suggestion: (For Computer): Maybe make the playing area smaller? I scrolled down to see the answer in its entirety, but then the monsters are partially hidden.
Edit: There's a problem with the Stats; it says that I've played 31 games with 200 words, but I know for sure I've only do 4, 5 games with maybe 3, 4 dozen words.
1. Pressing enter/return multiple times is no longer allowed.
2. Stats are fixed.
べれんだん - You cannot submit the same word twice, so that must be an error. It looks, at least, like it's playing off of the same original word. Will look into it.
Also, you cannot submit an empty word - a warning should appear. Can you give the exact steps you took to submit something that was empty?
The "chat" window should fit in the browser entirely. What browser are you using, and what do you have here: https://whatismyviewport.com/ when you cannot see the answer and the monsters at the same time?
Edit: monsters do not appear on the main menu unless you have *defeated* them at least once.
Ran into a little error where my answers could no longer be submitted and no longer received a response from the opponent (the game did resolve itself when the timer ran out). This happened after entering a word that was not in the renshuu dictionary.

Correction to my previous post: that error seems to happen once my character disappears, but the timer's still going and answers can still be submitted.

Issues with the game ending after a word ending in ー was played is fixed!
Ferrohl: I'll keep at it, but let me know if you notice any other patterns with your error that you mentioned up there. Have not been able to replicate it yet.
Also, a clarification - you say your character disappears - you mean they run out of HP? Do they run out of hp, but the "game over" screen doesn't appear?
To add to the above post, I also think I might have encountered the situation described too; the HP of the character was reduced to zero, and the character then disappeared but the game did not end and the timer continued counting down. I then attempted to add a legal word, to which a window appeared stating that a crash had occurred and prompted for a report of the issue.
Unfortunately I have not been able to replicate this situation in subsequent matches; the 'Game Over' screen has correctly appeared since.
For anyone interested, the game has to exist in two places at once (in the browser, and on the server). While I haven't isolated the cause, here is what's happening: your character in the browser is out of hp, but the copy of your character in the server is not out of hp, so no "game over" screen comes from the backend.
Depending on the success of this within the renshuu community, I'm looking into using flutter (first time, looks pretty exciting to build this as a standalone app for iOS and Android. Would simplify things a lot because there would not be two different versions of the game trying to keep track of one anotehr.
Alright, so I might have found the issue. This is a bit of a pain, but please keep an eye on your character's hp bar. I'd really like to know if you ever see it taking a hit *without* some kind verbal response from the opponent. If that's the case (regardless of whether or not the error comes up), I'd like to know what you entered before the hp loss.
I have yet to find any words which have not prompted a response from the opponent whilst losing HP (I'll definitely keep looking!), although I was able to replicate the issue I described in my earlier post once more.
I was playing against なべさん, and, if I understand correctly, against this opponent, I can generally make three mistakes before my HP is reduced to zero. However, when I made my second mistake, I lost two-thirds of my HP at once, reducing it to zero and resulting in the character disappearing from the screen. The timer then continued counting down as described above.
Once again, I received a window stating that a crash had occurred after I subsequently attempted to input a legal word. On this occasion, I closed this window, and after this the 'Game Over' screen did appear.
The error report that got sent to me makes a bit more sense, now. This should help me home in on the issue. I added additional logging, so the next time the error pops up, hopefully we'll have our answer.
Ok! I'm not too sure if something has changed as a result of adding the additional logging (or if it is only me who is experiencing this), although currently I seem to be receiving the window stating there has been a crash on every word that I input, regardless of whether it is correct or incorrect.
I was under the impression that my kitty would be playing "with" me, no? I chose the 2 star kitty, and I noticed that she only plays words starting with あ, no matter what I input. she played アイディア -> I played あまざけ -> she played アイディア again -> and I involuntarily entered あまざけ again. There was no warning, no error message. The screen seemed to load something, though. My word remained in the input box and I couldn't change it, then I ran out of time.
