I honestly cannot remember *exactly* where I ended up on that issue, but I seem to recall that I did not find a solution that worked perfectly.
A few questions for clarification:
1. Since it did not start until later on, I'm guessing you cannot yet accurately reproduce the issue? If it is anything, it might have to do with using the backspace?
2. Although this does not resolve this issue, if there is something that is preventing you from using the renshuu app on Android, I'd love to know about it - the more people on mobile that use the app, the less of the chance of an error occurring on a different browser.
I'm pretty sure what happened is that I figured out a hack of sorts that more or less fixed the issue, but brought up a a completely different problem. I think I ended up removing the fix because it was not making things better overall.
I haven't been able to figure out a consistent way to reproduce it, but each time I've come across entry issues the round started fine and then the problem popped up several words in. Once the issue starts, it continues for the rest of the round.
In Firefox the issue happens as I described. After testing in the Android app, it seems to have a slightly different keyboard issue... instead of repeating kana, it just places the cursor farther back in the word while typing, so "しゃかい" might become something like "しかいゃ".
As far as using Renshuu in the browser instead of the app, I just don't have enough storage on my phone, so I switch around apps a lot and don't always have it installed. The only thing keeping me from regularly using it on my dedicated study device (the weird Android e-reader) is the random lack of audio, which is only intermittent but still makes me prefer using the browser version on that device.
Sorry for the delay - I have some "good" problems I'm dealing with (a ton of new users as of late, so handling them), so your issues as well as others have kind of fallen to the side a bit.
This is somewhat to the side, but when is the last time you tried audio on your e-reader? I've made some changes in the last 3-4 days that might have helped.
It's probably been over a week since I've used the app on my e-reader, so I'll do some testing and see if the issue's still there!
Update: I did a few quick tests and so far the audio hasn't failed, but in quizzes it does not play automatically. I have to push the button to prompt it.
Is it just me, or are the games down for maintenance. I tried to open both shiritori cat and counter punch just now on both desktop and mobile, but nothing happens. The games won't open.
@gillianfaith - with the not playing automatically, you are referring to the listening quizzes for words, right? Did it present you with a "hey, do you want to enable auto-play for the audio" option?
@Karlla - I am not yet able to replicate what you're referring to (although I found a very small issue where the speed preferences for Shiritori cat were overriding that for Counter Punch). Based on the numbers for the site overall, it appears that roughly the usual number of games are being played.
Can you describe visually what you mean by "nothing happens"? Does it remain on the menu page (where you choose which game to play)? Go to the next page? If so, what is visible?
Thanks in advance!
I mean, I'm in the forum (or anywhere on the site), open the menu and pick shiritori cat or counter punch. I'll be sent to the top of the page I'm on and stay there.
Tried it just now on mobile. It takes about a minute or two for the shiritori cat menu page to load. That's a long time...
I didn't see the issue on Counter Punch (unless you chose counter punch after choosing shiritori cat). It was a database query gone bad on SC. Try now :)

と言いました。This is for vocab quizzes and automatically playing the audio for answered questions. I don't have Listening as a quiz vector so I'm not sure if the issue would also apply to listening quizzes or not. The prompt at the beginning of quizzes to play audio automatically still appears, and my user settings are set to automatically play the pronunciation after answering a question, but I still have to manually press the audio button next to the answer to have it play the pronunciation. (This is only using the Android app on my Android 6 e-reader; the app on my Android 8 phone and the browser on all my devices play audio as expected.)
Alright, we might have to let poor e-readerちゃん deal with it unless I can reproduce it on a device/emulator that I have :(
