Today I was adding to my SRS, which in its meanings here on renshuu has "sharpness, keenness, sensitiveness, mental acumen" and noticed didn't matched the JMDict meaning, so I went to check when it was modified out of curiosity:

It was modified 3 years ago actually so the dictionary here should be back of at least 3 years, but likely more - I think I was the one that originally suggested updating the dictionary and it was done, but I do not remember when exactly x_x
But a thing is sure, in 3 years many definitions changed a lot (4 changes where suggested by me alone then approved only this month lol)
So would be extremely nice if the site had some way to easily keep synced with it, maybe syncing twice a year or something like that, while not interfering with custom definitions users have :)

Right now I am essentially "manually syncing" my cards through custom definitions lol

It is currently "synced" twice a year. However, because the original renshuu dictionary was not based on edict/jmdict with all the proper matchings (foolish mistake on my part, but when they were first put in, the edict ids were not added), there are still some disconnects. Basically, an edict entry exists in renshuu, but because it does not have the id attached to it, it does not yet receive updates.

This needs to be done, but because there is not a 100%-safe way to automate it, I haven't been able to go through the ones that need to be manually done. It may be a second an entry, but it's not something on the top of my list at the moment.

The vast majority of terms were successfully matched, and get updates, but some did not b/c the system detected that there was a possibility that there was more than one term in renshuu to match with the one in jmdict.

There is one more possibility - thanks to renshuu users over the years, there have been many terms that received updates to their definitions that were suggested by users and verified before saving them. These do not receive updates from jmdict. However, my guess is that your word falls into the first category.

Actually, that one *is* linked properly. I'll try and get another sync done soon, and when I do so, I'll make sure to single this word out to see if it is working correctly.

*too much to do! I'm finally making some progress on the grammar quiz/expansion, so I'm somewhat hesitant to stop that momentum and switch to something else.*

You shouldn't stop the momentum then :D
I just mention this stuff when I notice it so that there are new tasks when nothing else is currently pursued, but is not a priority - in fact I play games using zkanji (a desktop dictionary software) and its definitions where last updated in 2013 xD

would it be of any help a list of words that are not properly updating?
today I've found which was changed in 2017, but the dictionary here still has the old definition, if you think this might be helpful in troubleshooting I can keep my eyes open on this words

A few would be ok, but I do not think any more than that will be necessary - there is a significant chance that whatever it rejecting the updates is probably for most if not all of the ones that fall into that category.

Yea, I was right - it is an overarching gap. I've actually got all the data ready for import, but I do want to check a few more things and not rush into it. Today or tomorrow, probably!

not quite yet hehe :D
I had happened to find おり, which was changed to "change (for a purchase)" in 2017 - here on the site's dictionary it has the entry pre-2017

Oh, nevermind the message above, for some reason my dictionary search hadn't refreshed properly, I looked it up again now and is correctly updated :)

Remind me the other day with こい, where the first search brought back the old non-updated resoult and searching it again brought the merged entry without コイ - that must be something unrelated going on in the dictionary refresh/update

A re-update is happening! The issue was occurring when only one definition was updated when there is a term with multiple versions/spellings/kanji.

Any chance words that are in JMdict but not on renshuu will be added? I sometimes search for words here, can't find them, then search on weblio and the first definition is from JMdict.

Depends on how new the entry is. Also, there is a small chance that renshuu has seen it, but because there was a conflict with an existing entry (that may or may not be the same), it didn't get added.

Feel free to shoot me some examples and I can look into it!

わたわた is the most recent one I noticed, I'll let you know when I see another one.
