Hey there! I am new with renshuu and trying to figure out my way about daily lessons and reviews.

When I open my Schedule I see 56 terms that I can review. But when I click Study I can only study 8 new words.

After that, I can either Study extra or do an Extra review. Do I study new things by clicking Study and do all reviews with Extra review?

The thing is that I haven't done any reviews today yet, so I don't get why it's only an Extra review I can do.
Maybe something isn't right with my Schedule settings or I don't get the core principles or renshuu yet.

Anyway, would appreciate any help here! Thanks

Thanks for the message - I need to change the language a bit so the text lines up, and both of those buttons should not be appearing at the same time.

Also - I've never seen it look like that top image before! I'll look into it this morning, and let you know when I have an update!

Ok! I know what's happening.

If you tap on the settings icon, then go to Schedule Settings, you can see the full set of settings for the schedule. You have the setting "study 10 a day" turned on, instead of "study as much as I can". So what that does is prioritize the questions to give you the 10 you need to study the most, even if you'd normally have more to study if that restriction wasn't turned on.

It works best from the dashboard, since you're not exposed to those extra terms that you could be studying, but aren't.

If you remove that setting and study as much as you can, it'll behave normally.

Ah, I see! Thank you for explaining that to me :) I thought "study 10 a day" will limit new items I get to 10, while not affecting my reviews.
I changed it to "study as much as I can", and will try again today.

The limits for new terms is just below that option :).

But thank you so much for spelling out your thought process! That helps me in understanding how others think, and it makes it easier to clarify the text/explanations.

You are welcome! Thank you for your hard work :)

Today I was able to access both lessons and reviews. First I clicked Study from Dashboard and 10 new items were introduced, then reviews appeared when I clicked Learn New here:

The only question left is that maybe Study and Learn New should be reversed? 'Learn New' for introducing new items and 'Study' for reviews?

That's a good point - when both are available, maybe Learn & Study?

That should work! Then should that trigger both new items and review items?

If we talking about only new items then Study works fine, Learn for reviews makes sense even though I would prefer Review here.
Maybe I just missed a terminology FAQ somewhere that introduces all terms?

*laughs* FAQ entry would be good, although I'm hoping to get language that enough people agree on (there's been a surprising amount of debate on using "study" vs "review")

So, here's how it looks right now:

Learn New = only new to learn

Lean & Study = new and review

Study = review only

Extra Review = review finished, but you can do more if you want

Oh, I see! Thank you for making that clear :) I'll give a go to the whole Study and Learn cycle one more time and will post again later.
