Forums - Example sentences in custom lesson get added to the wrong vocab

Hello,

I've been making a custom lesson of new terms as I play a game, and I always add the game quote to the words in the list as private sentences.
Sometimes I come across a sentence that has two (or more) new words. For instance:

また えのほこらまで ネズミたいじでも してくるかな!

Here, I added both ほこら and 退/たいじ to the list (in that order), but when trying to add the sentence as an example for ほこら, it just keeps repeatedly getting added to 退 instead. This happens consistently whether I try to add the example sentence to the lesson itself, or during the quiz.

(As a bonus bug, when clicking to add an example sentence from the quiz's vocab list, the pop-up box for the sentence is all the way at the top of the page, making you have to scroll back up. Also, the little pop-up that comes up when you hover over the button to add a sentence sometimes covers the button, making it hard or impossible to click.)

I'm using Firefox 96.0.3 (64-bit) on Windows 10. I haven't tested on mobile, or other browsers.

Thanks for your time!

Sorry about the popup issues! I'll take a look at it soon.

Let me clarify a few things - so, with the sentence, once you bind it, it should actually link itself to *all* of the words present in the sentence. However, what you're saying is that while it does appear as an example for 退, it does not for ほこら?

If possible, please give me a specific set of steps for recreating the issue. I have a general feel for it, but sometimes it happens to be a step in the user's actions that you may not think is part of the issue, but ends up being the root cause.

Yup, that's right. It only gets added to the last word in the list.

I've made a brand new list to replicate the bug:
1. Went to Learn>Lesson Center
2. Clicked "Make a New Lesson" then "Words"
3. Clicked the name field and named the lesson "Test" (no quotes)
4. Checked the "make this list private" box
5. In the "search for words" field, I put, in order:

ほこら
たいじ
6. Clicked "search for words".
7. Clicked the plus sign next to え/いにしえ, then the one next to the first option for ほこら: hokora, small wayside shrine (noun), then the one next to the first option for たいじ: 退/たいじ
8. Clicked "Save", then once it saved, clicked the "x" button
9. Clicked the "Me" tab
10. Clicked "view lessons" under "Assorted Lessons"
11. Clicked "Test"
Note: The sentence (またえのほこらまでネズミ退でもしてくるかな!) is present for all 3 items when I make a new list containing them. It's there twice, probably because I tried to add the sentence twice before.
12. Under え, clicked the "add your own example sentence" button
13. Typed "またえのほこらまでネズミ退でもしてくるかな" into the pop-up field (to differentiate it from the sentence with the exclamation mark)
14. In the "bind vocabulary" popup, everything looked right so I clicked "Save these bindings"
15. I refreshed the page (by pressing the refresh button in my browser)
16. The new sentence is now visible under 退, but not え or ほこら.

I've attached an image of what the page looks like after the refresh (I couldn't fit the whole page into the image, but hopefully this is still clear enough)

Also, out of curiosity, I went ahead and added ネズミ to the list of words, and the sentence without the exclamation mark was there. So it seems to be working as intended for new words, but not for existing ones.

To test further, I started a quiz, and as you can see the sentence I added without the exclamation mark is missing from ほこら:

All of that said, after I switched to the previous lesson, and then switched back, all of the example sentences are now showing up in all of the terms, including when I add new sentences. I'm not sure what changed. I only had the one custom lesson before, and I'm not sure if that made a difference.

I can't reproduce the bug myself anymore, but I at least managed to get some screenshots of it before it stopped happening. I hope that's somewhat helpful.

Edit: By "switched" I mean I closed the lesson, went back to the "Me" tab, then clicked the other private lesson I already had (that included all terms I tested with). The sentences were now visible across the board, including the ones that weren't working in that lesson before. Then I went back to "Me" again, and clicked the test lesson, and all the sentences were there too.

Oh, sorry for the double post, but another minor thing I noticed is that the little red trashcan icon to delete a private example sentence doesn't appear unless I click "see more sentences" (so it doesn't appear at all when there are too few sentences and that link isn't there.) This happens in both the lesson page and the quiz.

Hmm - I'm unfortunately not getting the issue on this end - there must be something else that's causing it. If it does happen again, do let me know.

The lesson creation process is most definitely not causing the issue. It has to be somewhere after the point where you press the "add a sentence" thing.

Oh, and the trashcan/etc. doesn't appear on purpose. This is done to keep the quiz environment clean from rarely used actions.

Going to look at the "flying" popup now!
