Forums - (almost) Never get new terms

Hi,

I'm experiencing a really strange issue where I don't get any new terms with my quizzes. I have my settings configured so that I'm supposed to get 20 new terms per quiz, but I never really get any. I can force new terms by going to my lesson center, selecting all of the lessons and pressing "study multiple" but the terms in the quizzes are random and they never really seem to be in any particular order. I also don't have any opportunity to review the terms I got wrong when doing this type of review, because of course I have to end it before finishing or I would have to do all of the 700-ish terms in Genki 2 at once. I might just be misunderstanding how all of this works but I've searched and searched and not found any way to remedy this. I've turned off the daily limit on new terms, so that's not the problem either.

Anybody who might be able to tell me what on earth is going on?

Appreciate it!

Edit: So OK it looks like this is only happening with Genki 2 for vocab, kanji and grammar. No other schedule is causing this problem.

Edit 2: It's hapening with minna no nihongo now too. I think I somehow got mastery for stuff I didn't study because I could study "Intermediate Japanese" and that still seems to be working.

Thanks for the message - it looks that you have a much older account, so it doesn't have the newer version of the schedule layout turned on. If you tap the settings icon at the top right of the dashboard, you can go to "schedule shortcuts" and change it to Simple. That gives a lot more info on your schedules, and why they are acting a certain way.

Most likely, there is a daily or weekly limit attached to the schedule(s). If you tap the settings button to the right of the study button, then go to More Settings, you can see if there are any limits on new terms.

Hope this helps!

Hello, thanks for taking the time to respond! I was thinking that the age of my account and the fact that I hadn't used it in a very long time might have something to do with it. I've changed the schedule shortcuts to "simple", and it did indeed add a message saying that I don't have any new terms to study:

I checked the daily/weekly limit settings but there don't seem to be any limits set:

I've checked and there is no way I have mastery for all of the terms in Genki 2 - I only have 228 kanji studied and there are over 300 kanji in Genki altogether, so there is no way that I have studied all of them.

I'm genuinely lost as to what's happening.

Edit: Ok I think I found a solution! There was a "next" button that wasn't there before with the previous view. I can now move on to the next chapters and study them, so all is well :) Thanks again for your help!

I am working on it, but unfortunately, the compact/minimal modes do not yet work ideally for all of the different schedule situations that come up now.
