I personally don't have pro yet (waiting to get paid), but I'd recommend buying monthly first. See if you're using Renshuu regularly, then buy the one-time payment. It'll be a waste if you buy the one-time payment and lose interest in Japanese.
Since I run renshuu, I am a bit biased, but allow me to mention a few things:
1. renshuu pro is active on your account, not your device, so you can use it across all devices (PC, smartphone, tablet, etc.)
2. renshuu pro continues to get new stuff added to it, whether it's new features, or expanded content on what is already available. We're adding a huge N1 (advanced level) set of grammar quizzing in a month or so, and I'd say that a good 30% of what's available has been added in the last 24 months.
3. This is not part of renshuu pro, as everyone gets this, but you always have a direct line to the entirety of renshuu, me. If you ever have any issue with renshuu pro or anything else, I am more than happy to help you work it out.
I got the 10 days free trial, it's worth it but I will stick with the free because it has what I need. (P.S. check out my question about with male anime character do you have a crush on)
I’ve used the site for over 10 years, had several periods of pro before, and I finally bit the bullet and bought the lifetime. The writing practice really makes it worth it for me. Other apps just with writing costs just as much or more, so this is a bargain.
Like others have suggested, get one month first to see if the extra features make a difference for you. I did that, and then I got the lifetime subscription. Haven’t regretted it since. I’ve been studying Japanese on and off since 2006, and Renshuu is one of the best resources I’ve come across.
I regret not finding it earlier. So efficient in preparing for JLPT. If my funds allow, I'll defi continue the pro far in to the future, because of the games and content for retention. Plus I'll feel guilty for using this high quality platform without contributing the minimum if I can afford it.
highly recommend it IF you are truly ready to study Japanese almost daily. i got it yesterday and i think this will completely help. the price is alot yes but you have access to literally(almost) everything you need!
