Hey, I've been noticing that to keep up my motivation to learn japanese, using different japanese media helps a lot, and I just wanted to ask for some recommendations from the renhsuu community! If it could be something demon/samurai/japanese culture/hisotry related it would be amazing, but you can just write your personal faves!
I've been watching Demon slayer or 鬼滅の刃 if you will, and I was wondering if there are any other good anime or any other kind of media that are interesting/good/ helpful in your opinion!
You can also send me private messeges if you want to chat about the anime!
I don't know if it Will suit your taste but "To your eternity" is a pretty good one second season is coming out this fall too. Let me know if you enjoy it!!

Wow, I haven't heard of that one before! I checked the description and the premise does seem pretty interesting! I also didn't know that it's from the same creator who made " a silent voice" . Wrote it down! Also, sorry if the tagging is weird, i forgot how to renshuu
I reccomend this show to everyone. it's a tv show called "泣くなハラちゃん" / don't cry hara-chan
It's about a manga character coming into the real world, I'm not gonna say anymore but it's so, so good. "
The premise kind of sounds like the plot of the kdrama "W"! I do like some weird reality warping stuff, so I'll have to check that one out too! It also seems to be a pretty fun watch, so I'm very hopeful , don't disappoint me! Man, the 2010's had some of the best tv shows... !
i used to watch a movie, called seven samurai. it's all in japanese and is very accurate to the history and reality of most samurai. although it's three hours! so take breaks when watching.

That's a great one. Anything by Akira Kurosawa is pretty good. One of the best directors of all time.
" 小岩井よつば Level: 2 i used to watch a movie, called seven samurai. it's all in japanese and is very accurate to the history and reality of most samurai. although it's three hours! so take breaks when watching. "
Never heard of it, but sounds like something right down my alley! Only recently did I notice that most japanese media I watch is samurai related . And the fact that it's an enjoyable way to learn japanese history is dope af! Also, thank you for your recommendation, taking breaks is always good!
Thank you everyone for sharing your picks! Now I don't have to rewatch death note or ed edd n eddy for the 1000000th time! The recommendations were also pretty interesting, so I'm looking forward to checking them all out!
As for anime, I don't watch a lot and if I watch any, it is only mostly 90% to 100% male cast (/winks/). My favorites are quite old, definitely older than 10 years. The more "mainstream" series: Tiger and Bunny, Banana Fish, Gensoumaden Saiyuki
March comes in like lion, Summertime rendering, kizumonogatari, mushishi, non non biyori, barakamon, acca, my little monster, hinamatsuri, great pretender, Bloom into you, vivy, or something
For Kurosawa, I'm a big Rashomon fan - I think it is extremely appropriate when trying to understand how perspective can adjust how we see reality."
I've never heard of Rashomon, but turns out they have a whole effect named after it, based on how people remember the past... wow, that's a must watch! The style of the movie oddly enough reminds me of an older russian comedy "Ivan Vasilyevich: Back to the future" Very different movies, very different premises, but the feel of the movies seems very similar...
Toradora! I don't think it fits any of your preferences but I love it. :C"
I actually started watching Toradora at the start of the year and got to the whole gang going to the beachhouse, it did make me laugh a few times, but I still don't remember why I stopped, probably because of the workload at school! Thank you ! Riyuji is such a stud for dealing with Taiga though...
Hakuoki is a visual novel about samurai. be careful - the Japanese there is hard and it's M-rated. there is an anime adaptation of it"
I was expecting it to be a horror manga for some reason, since most of all that stuff is M-rated, but it doesn't seem bad or like it would have to be m rated... And the art is beautiful, so it's definitely going on my watchlist! I usually write down certain words from anime and other japanese media I watch, so that i could look up the meaning later, and I watch anime with subtitles on, so it won't be a struggle... Thank you though, I don't feel experienced enough to read full on manga yet... still struggling with some of the basic JPLT4 kanji! Thank you very much!
there is some horror stuff - vampires and blood. but the romance in this anime is more important
be careful if you decide to play the VN - there are some *cough* steamy scenes. nothing explicit on the screen but the descriptions are... ugh. btw the VN is voiced so you can read it in English and write down Japanese words. i learned a few new words just by listening
