English counterpart: as; in proportion to; (along) with

Meaning/Function: a phrase used to indicate that a change occurs in accordance with another simultaneous change

Notes: V(dict) + につれて is used to express two simultaneously growing changes.

Since the conjunction or compound particle expresses change, the verbs used in the つれて clause and the main clause have to be a verb of change/process.

(DIJG p.285-287)

(In N + につれて, N seems to be a noun of change.)

Kéo theo/Càng... càng...
『につれて』diễn tả ý: vế trước (N/V) thay đổi, vế sau do bị vế trước kéo theo mà cũng thay đổi.

Thanks for the comment. I have not yet been able to find a source that explicitly states this, but since a verb can be turned into a noun with の attached to the end, it does seem to make sense. Where did you see this information?

Yes! I was thinking the same, that the の is simply turning the verb into a noun :)

I found this usage in this youtube video.

The example sentence they give for verb+の+につれて is:

がなくなるのにつれてちていった。

Alright - as long as you don't bring this up in every other expression that has a similar situation, then I'm happy to adjust this one :)
