にひきかえ and にたいして are easy to confuse.

にひきかえ conveys subjective feelings about something directly opposite or vastly different from what comes before the pattern.

にたいして objectively contrasts what comes before and after the pattern.

I would also say that this pattern has a slightly negative connotation that does not correspond to "compared to A". My definition would be "in contrast to A".
