怖い describes something that feels scary or fear-inducing. Fear is the core meaning, whether strong or mild, rational or irrational. English translations may sometimes use "creepy" or "eerie", but only when the situation includes a sense of fear or perceived danger. For a more specific "eerie" or "creepy" nuance, see 不気味.

※ In casual speech someone might say えっ、普通に怖いんだけど… when something feels mildly unsettling or alarming. Even when joking, it still reflects a fear-based reaction (often very mild), rather than neutral weirdness.

Meaning

そら♡
Level: 770
承知 is used similarly to 了解 or かしこまりました、 and is largely used with superiors.
There is an emphasis on "know" and "listen," so it is often used to mean "knowledge of the situation" or "listening to requests."
While it doesn't necessarily mean "acceptance," it can often be misinterpreted that way so use carefully.

To emphasize acceptance, consider using 承認 instead. 承認 is used when a person or organization in a position of authority judges that the requested matter is correct/appropriate. It is not a conversational term and is used in public announcements or business situations.

Etymology:
One theory is 馬鹿 comes from a legend where Zhao Gao, a politician from the Qin Dynasty of China, wanted to test the loyalty of those around him by presenting a deer to the emperor as a horse. When the emperor questioned those around whether it was a deer or a horse, those that were loyal to Zhao Gao called the deer a horse. Zhao Gao had the ones that called the deer a deer executed.

From this legend came the Chinese idiom "point at a deer and call it a horse".馬鹿 then became the short form of this idiom, which today means "absurd", or "foolish".
