We have grammar (sentence building, understanding), vocab, and kanji materials all the way through N1 and more! There are a lot of renshuu users who use renshuu as their primary learning source, but others mix it up with other apps/textbooks/classes.

We like to keep it flexible, so you can use it as much or as little as you'd like!

For me, this app helps a lot in my learning progress. The app lets us grade our ability with several buttons such as "I don't know", "mark as correct", "mark as false", etc according to our judgment. Lots of motivational stuff (such as games, manga, garden, etc) which I think is also a plus. Also Mike, the humble creator, and supportive community.

I use it as my primary learning app because of its features. however, I still depend on a notebook and a pen to write the materials. otherwise, I can't absorb the materials properly.

This app is quite comprehensive and gives you a lot of options of how you want to study. Especially for a beginner the schedules you find under Resources-> Japanese Basics are great and I think you can definitely get to N5 level using only that, just be aware that N5 is so low you can't really do anything practical with it. Sadly the N4 schedule and above are still wip and the current ones simply aren't on the same level as the n5 ones(lots of grammar questions with no audio, grammar and vocabulary isn't linked etc.).

As for Kanji I really like that it adds vocabulary questions once you add a kanji. Not a huge fan of learning them in JLPT order though not do I think learning readings in isolation is useful. I quite like Heisigs RTK for Kanji, even if I am not following it to the letter.

What renshuu doesn't provide though is immersion material though, you have to find that on your own.

All in all renshuu is a great tool andi much prefer it to other spaces repetition systems like anki, but it is not an all encompassing course and have to navigate your own Japanese learning journey. Don't be afraid to mess around with the settings of renshuu, it is much more customizable than you would expect.

@ You can make a schedule based on materials in Resources > Lesson Center, and you can find kanji in just about any order in there :)

I know, personally I simply have a single schedule called Kanji to which I add them as I learn them. Just talking about the default suggestion. It isn't necessarily obvious if you just started using Renshuu that this isn't a fixed course but rather a tool which you can and should adjust to your learning needs.

Learning Japanese with Renshuu is definitely very effective for me. They have quizzes to guide you through and have focused reviews to make sure that you don't make the same mistakes again. The games are also really fun to play~

I memorised the whole hiragana in one work after attempting Renshuu. My classmate recommended it to me after saying that she had to stay back after class to memorise it. I feel that it is really useful for me, but then again it may be different for everybody.
