I’m looking for some Japanese books to read If you have some personal favorites please let me know in the comments below! My Japanese level is around upper-intermediate
Also, preferably a book that isn’t too long would be ideal
Lonely Castle In The Mirror, for sure. I read the English version, but it was originally Japanese. The language used was quite simple, though that could have been due to the translation. It's one of my favorite books ever
Thanks! It looks really interesting I did some googling and it is called かがみの孤城 Hopefully I can find the Japanese version at the bookstore
The sound of waves i think its called. Only read english but it was nice!
コーヒーが冷めないうちに is a book I loved reading. I think it’s around N2 level but the grammar is fairly straightforward and was a great read that’s really emotional but also very wholesome at the same time
It sounds great! Will check it out ty!

Thank you! Is it by Yukio Mishima?
I really like Hoshi Shinichi's short story collections. His story 生活維持省 was assigned reading in one of my Japanese classes in college, and it's still one of my favorite short stories of all time. A lot of his stories are only a few pages long, and the language used is pretty simple, so they're easy to read.

Ohhh I've read his books before! They are really good! I really enjoyed reading きまぐれボット because each stories were only a couple pages long and they all had little twists here and there. I haven't read 生活維持省 before but will check it out! Thank you!
I hope this help you and everyone else. This is a website I've been using recently to read easy japanese books. https://yomujp.com/ :)
Intermediate JP level? I really like また、同じ夢を見ていた but it can be a bit slow at times
Currently working my way through Konosuba 1 but I don't care for it that much...
If you want manga then I really like the Chainsawman Manga (WAY better than the show) and Death Note
Your side in April IS AMAZING there's also an anime to!
I’d recommend the Kirby (星のカービィ) light novels, as unlike the games, they’re for young adults and aren’t too long.
"The Catch" (飼育) by Kenzaburo Oe
"The Tattooer" (刺青) by Jun'ichiro Tanizaki
"Rashōmon" (羅生門) by Ryunosuke Akutagawa
I haven't read them in the original language, but they are good stories by famous Japanese writers and my favorites.
The Housekeeper and The Professor (博士の愛した数式, Hakase no ai shita shuushiki) by Yoko Ogawa
I love to read manga in English, but I would recommend Assaination Classroom definitel
