Baaaasicaly, there is a species of weird cosmic deities who made the universe, they each choose a mortal emissary, called a seraph, and she is the seraph of DEATH. Her brother is the main villain, and their home planet was ravaged by a swarm of interstellar insect things. Her design and powers and stuff are all based on spider lilies, which are cool flowers, in case you didn't know, and she wields a scythe/scythes, and dual katanas

This is a boy from a dream I had. He lives in a world where some people have inherent magical abilities but most of them aren’t powerful enough to work without the help of these 12 ancient relics. However your power has to be compatible with the relic you possess for it to work and once you possess a relic you are forever bound to it. The more powerful someone’s inherent magic is, the stronger the relic will make them. The government in recent decades was reordered and now outlaws the relics and their users, culling potential users during their takeover 8 years prior. Many survivors of this culling organized together to form a resistance against the government. This boy is one such survivor who ran away with his family’s treasured ring which is actually a relic. He eventually finds his way to the resistance group who start teaching him how to use his relic.

Here's some character backstories from a dream I had, since someone else mentioned a dream character. I dreamt of a young brown-haired boy and a blue-haired girl infiltrating a prison complex, presumably to find a prisoner. However, the "anime" was designed sort of like a joke anime (with a cartoon style) and the brown-haired boy had some form of amnesia that made him forget who the blue-haired girl was every 10 minutes or so.

I adapted the characters into a preexisting story. The brown-haired boy is named Haruki, and the blue-haired girl is Ruka. Haruki survived a major train crash in his high school years and developed short-term memory loss due to a head injury. Ruka was on the same train and helped bring Haruki to safety, and she continued to take care of him afterwards. (They attended the same school but never talked prior to the train crash. Haruki needs intensive help with his schoolwork due to his memory troubles, so Ruka supports him through high school and college.)

Anyway, skipping over a couple decades here, but they eventually join an undercover detective agency. The agency's investigation reveals an affluent company is performing unethical experiments on people in an underground facility. (Some of the detectives were also victims of the experiments.)

Sadly whenever I have dreams that detailed I can't remember most of it. Then I just make up something else instead. Plus sometimes in my dreams the story or idea keeps changing which is annoying

Recently I had a dream where I was painting a beautiful painting. It was like a sky and then I was gonna put a rocky coast and stuff, and then, it got really annoying and I couldn't paint a straight line, and the colors were changing, and then somehow I was no longer the painter and it was a famous old man painter....

I am curious, does anyone else ever write a story and then don't like it anymore and throw it in your mental trash bin, but then you like some of the characters so you think of them but in a different story

As a game dev in training, I make a ton of concept stories and art and music and stuff, so yeah, I do that quite a bit actually, with characters and with stories. For example, I have a character who is a robot snowman,

(some concept art)

and was thinking about having him be the main character but i decided I didn’t like the story I came up with, so I decided to put him in a dif story and game entirely, not even making him the main character.

Not exactly, but I've had massive overhauls of some character personalities. One of my protagonists started out as a pseudo-villain and became a very lawful protagonist 5 years later, so that was interesting.

I did the same thing once. I came up with this silly story and then there was this villain guy and then they met him and he was only like half way a villain but then I liked him too much so then he was like the protagonist, and then it went off the rails because I realized I couldn't figure out who the main character was or what the main plot line would be so I threw it in the mental trash bin. But I still really like the character so I basically just have the same character personality but different characters

I have trouble creating villains because I usually give them too many genuine reasons to act "evil" None of them are 100% "evil," just extremely misguided or selfish. True villains are so perplexing to create, because giving them genuine motives seems to reduce their evilness factor.

I know I always feel bad for them and then they seem like not very good villains anymore because I make them like only somewhat bad. (And I also imagine alternate dimensions where they're not evil) There's like the villains who have lots of good things about them but are bad and the villains who are purely evil because they're like everything that I think of that's evil. I wish I could make them nicely balanced like One Piece villains

I think One Piece has a lot of great "power hungry" villains. I don't really have a lot of villains, but most of mine are very selfish individuals who take advantage of others for their own personal gain. I think my most major villain is the most "evil" because she attacks an entire planet, destroys everything, and steals the natural resources to improve her home planet. (She doesn't even extend the materials to the other people who live on her planet, either. She just uses the materials to improve her own quality of life.)

I think in One Piece there is a very varying spectrum of villains (and protagonists). There are characters who are pure evil, antiheros, characters who are somewhat evil, characters who we can't really figure out if they're bad or good, characters who are good but are still enemies (to the Straw Hats), etc. etc. etc.

I think that Mustache Girl, the main villain in A Hat In Time, is a really great villain because her main motive is to eliminate other villains, but she doesn’t realize that she is affecting everybody else too

You know that villain guy I was talking about earlier? He was like, super evil. And then I thought of a backstory and stuff. And then I felt super bad. So he's only partially evil now, and I'm annoyed, because he was a super great villain before... But like, his Dad, he was just evil. I do not feel bad for him or like him even a tiny bit. But he's also a backstory character so that helps. Oh yeah, there's like, this evil gang. They're evil. But, they're not extremely important so maybe that's why
