When I'm looking at Japanese YouTube comments, etc. I see lots of kaomoji. I was just wondering how they seem to use these so easily? On Android at least, there's only a few and you have to type a related word and select the kaomoji from the suggested words list. However, for more rare or unusual ones, how does a native Japanese person use these frequently? (I also use a Mac, if there's a way to do it on that too...)
I’m not sure if it’s the same on android as apple, but here’s how it’s done on apple
If you press the Kaomoji button, a few will show up on the top. Then you press the little arrow next to them

this gives you a whole list of them

I hope this helped ✌︎('ω'✌︎ )
I forgot to include this, but the Kaomoji button only shows up if you haven’t typed anything yet or if you press the big button on the side

Hey thanks for the quick reply! Unfortunately there's no ^_^ button on Android (I'm jealous there is a button for them first thing on iPhone!) but I'll try checking into it and seeing if there's a way to adjust it, otherwise I guess I'll just have to copy+paste haha. Thanks tho! :)
You can also type かお into your keyboard then all of those Kaomojis will appear

Thanks! :) Haha I guess I wish there was more of a selection on Android though. Anyway thanks guys, maybe Japanese people just all have iPhones lol
Android is definitely not limitted in its selection. Gboard has tons, and you get to them through the regular emoji menu.

Then go to the ":-)" tab for plain-text smileys, which has every conceivable category of kaomoji listed at the top.

Hi! I'm an Android user and I added the japanese language in my keyboard (Google). I followed the instruction above and typed "かお", then click the down button on the right. At first you will see a few kaomojis and then emojis, but if you scroll down a little bit, you will see more kaomojis. Perhaps you could try and check them out. I hope this helps. (*>_<*)ノ

On Android ( note than I use Gboard ), you can go to the emoji tab, and in the tabs under the emojis, to the right of gifs, there is a kaomoji tab with a ton of them (represented by a ":-)" ).
Also if you use Gboard's japanese keyboard and you type in かお, you get some kaomoji, then a bunch of emoji, and then a bunch of kaomoji proposed in the autocompletion thingy. There are some really cool ones, wich apparently aren't available trough the typical kaomoji tab, probably because they have japanese onomatopoeia, like (。-ω-)zzz. . . (。゚ω゚) ハッ! or (ΦωΦ)フフフ…
Though the typing in かお only seems to work with the japanese one, the kaomoji tab in emojis is there whatever the langage of the keyboard.
Hope I helped !
Im also using gboard on android. the kaomoji tab is a bit weak but as others said typing kao or kaomoji in japanese gives you a huge list, alternatively typing things like eeeee or the word for an emotion etc gives you more specific kaomoji!
Thanks everyone! I have a Samsung phone so it's using Samsung Keyboard, but Gboard seems to be a good solution, so maybe I'll try installing that sometime. Thanks again you all rock!

I don't think you even need Gboard – I have a Samsung tablet and I don't think I've set anything up with that, but in the emoji menu of my normal keyboard there is a kaomoji section too.

That's odd, maybe it depends on the specific device? (´°̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥ω°̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥`) It's an old phone, so that might be it, maybe once I finally get a new one it'll have the tab for it. Anyway thanks!
