I know basic alphabets and sentences at a high school second language course level. I want to solidify my basics but the menus look complicated to me, how do you set schedules are start with the categories? Is it automatically recommended to you? Im curious of what other members went through

It is automatically set up for you based on the choices you made when you got started. So, the schedules you have on your dashboard should be good for you.

If you'd like, you can tap the "Manage your schedules" link just below the schedules, and you can see all the other premade schedules there (and add any that you'd like).

Are you using a textbook? We have a lot of textbook materials available as well.

We don't have any lessons for vocabulary-only books, I believe. You can go to the Manage Your Schedules link to see the prebuilt schedules that we have for textbooks such as Genki, IJ, etc.

You can also go to Learn > Lesson Center - we have several thousand lessons made by other users, including some textbooks that are not officially maintained by renshuu. It's worth checking there as well!

I have been studying lots of lessons and did lots of quizes to get more Hankos, sometimes my efforts count and sometimes they don't. Recently yet again I worked hard on vocab and kanji but my "days studying" has gone back down to zero 4 days before I was due to get another hanko. Yet on my grammar I made progress. I don't get it. I am not doing anything different as far as I am aware. Any suggestions on what I am doing wrong would be really appreciated.
