Hello, I have downloaded this app about 2 days ago, and there's an item in my dashboard named "new words", which I have yet to use once, because it won't let me. I haven't been able to figure out how to make it give me new words. I think I'm supposed to add them there? I tried adding a few words I came across into the starter pack but I don't know if it even does anything. How do I make it make me learn new words?


O the side note, where's the dictionary? I can find most words I come across by clicking on them, but I can't find the dictionary itself.

Hello! I am happy to help you :).

1. Dictionary is the book in the top-right of the app/site :)

2. So, if you see where it say "0 to learn", there is a little (?) to the right of it that explains why it is like that.

Basically, the defaults in renshuu are set up so you don't learn too much new stuff at once. By default, it's 40 new words (including hiragana/katakana) a week.

Everything can be customized in renshuu, though, and this is no exception! If you tap the settings icon to the right of a schedule's study button (Learn, or Focused Review, etc.), you can go to More Settings. In there, you can adjust how many new terms you can learn each week, or you can turn that off altogether and just go crazy :)

It is a good idea to keep it from being too high, otherwise you'll get hit with a ton of reviews when all the new stuff you've learned starts coming back to get ya :)
