Unlike ~について, the following sentence typically doesn't include the details of the additional information. Instead, it provides the means to obtain it (e.g. 調べる, 相談, 説明, etc.) and/or the general theme of the information presented. It's also generally more formal than ~について. See 新完全マスター文法 N2: 07課.
