As with だろう in its plain tense, you can combine the た and だ together for the past tense, ie っただろうとう -> ったろうとう.

Is this a question? I personally am not familiar with the pattern you suggest and probably wouldn't use it even if correct. It just seems too casual to me, but that's just my opinion!

I know you *could* do it - I've been seeing it a lot in こころ (only 87 pages to go! Almost done!) along with things like なかろう etc - but I don't know if I've ever seen that form in anything more recent than that!

I believe you still can - I saw it not too long ago (also along with things like なかろう,) and while I don't remember what in specifically, I've just been reading contemporary novels, so gotta be one of those.

If you haven't read them yet, it's definitely worth while reading :)

I've read several of the , but not all of them. I like , but frankly he's a bit morbid for my taste (not all the time of course, but certainly in and in こころ as well)
