How are these different? there seems to be very little distinction between them in what is available. I've personally never seen two different usages for について、so I'm interested to see what I've missed.

Nothing is different about them; they had been independently listed in JLPT materials, but all research I've done has said that there's only one real usage.

My grammar book says the construction is only Noun + について. When I look at alc.co.jp I also see について with nouns only.

My grammar book has について, については, についても, and についての separated, but as far as I can tell, they basically mean the same.

Noun + については・についても
Noun 1 + についての + Noun 2

Thanks, added them. I agree, they should be on the page, since the particles don't change the meaning, just how the について phrase functions in the sentence.
