Grammar usage notes

when a noun precedes もなると、 it can be either ともなると or にもなると. The と version is more formal than the に version. when a verb precedes the sentence, only と is used.

The も of ~ ともなると describes the progression to high level within a certain range. It appends to nouns expressing advanced level.

It looks like we have a little error in the title of this grammar page. ともなるなと should be ともなると (i.e. there's an extra な in there).

it might be helpful to have the alternate version ともなれば in the usage section as well :-)
