Degree of comparison:
ちょっと(し)> わずかに > かすかに
> smaller

もっと > ずっと > > はるかに
> longer/farther

You can add one of above words after より, though it's not limited to より but to any grammar that seems fit.

なんだかったよりずっとうんだ。
Somehow it's much different from what I thought.

You can add も to emphasize it.
よりい。(normal/plain)
よりもい。(strong)
He is stronger than anyone.

Occasionally, everything before the より can be removed, like this:
よりいサービスをする.
I will offer you better service.

When there is nothing explicitly written to compare it to, the comparison is made to current conditions; 'now'.

よりいサービスをする。
I will offer you better service (that has been available until now, etc.).

I noticed that the second grammar point's "how to use" section uses より yet the example sentences use ほど. Should the "how to use" section be using ほど instead, or should it be the other way around?
