しおりさんがするところだからよくきなさい。

"Shiori is about to present, so listen.

~なさい is a command or direction so please sounds too polite.

Meaning #1, the second example sentence Japanese doesn't match the English.

dontpoke-san is right.
The translation should be "The movie is about to start so quickly let's buy some cola."

Weird - I've never quite sure how those incorrect ones get in there. Anyhow, it's fixed. Thanks!

There's also a forth construction possible:
Vて + いた + ところ だ
Someone has been doing sth

Isn't this grammar overlapping with the other た under だ.
There it is translated with "Just after A, B", which is pretty much the same like the one here.

Sairen - the meaning is a bit different; clarified it a bit, and blended them into one page (there's now 4 meanings on this page: 3 from one, 1 from the other)

I can't really understand the meaning behind #4. What exactly is meant by "Be now....ing" ?

I think it means to be actually in the middle of doing something. For example, studying, watching a movie, eating dinner, etc.

Do you think that needs to be listed as an additional construction? It's still the 'ta-form + tokoro', just that the ta form happens to be on a helper verb, and not the main one.

Unicom stays "よく使:‾てみたところ" so yes, add it under "Additional usages" would be wise. Other than that, it has more of a "when" feeling, instead of "after".

Ugh, it did that to me the first time and I swore it fixed it the second time. For some reason, if I write in Japanese, it won't show up. My question was what is the difference between point #1 and ようとした (You toshita) ?

The can both mean the same thing, but ようとする can also mean 'to try to a'. V (dict form)ところ strictly refers to a point in time just before the action starts.

there's many examples on this page with instead of ところ, the kanji refers to the physical place but most grammar points using ところ refers to time, so the kanji can make the sentences confusing by changing the meaning.

Can I suggest changing the "About to start A" from point 1 to "About to A" or just "About to..." ?
This because taking as an example this sentence:

かけるところです。 I'm just about to go out now.
it's easier to think "About to go out" rather than "About to start to go out"
