you also don't need to exhaustively list out 3, 4, or even 5 things, や is simply saying "things such as A and B (as well as other things)" it is far better to use only two of the things that are immediately on your mind in this pattern and let the rest be implied.

It's best not to use multiple linking や in a row. In English, this would be considered somewhat lazy grammar as well.
For instance:
AやBやCやDがパーティーにいる。 ----- A and B and C and D are at the party.
