Using だけ in this way suggests that the amount is basically enough, but admittedly could be higher.

I think だけ can also be situated after verbs and adjectives.

A second meaning for this grammar point:

Construction:

Dictionary form verb + だけ
Potential form verb + だけ

In addition, often used with words like ‾(し)たいだけ, ほしいだけ, きなだけ

されています。るだけしましょう。
たくさんありますから、どうぞほしいだけおりください。

English meaning: As much as one‾ (likes, can, want, etc)

Edit: I think it's already here:
http://www.renshuu.org/index.php?page=grammar/individual&id=323

but the constructions are completely different.

It's Plain form verb + だけあって・だけに instead of dictionary form,
and add Na-adjective + だった + だけあって・だけに to the list.

は、ただけあって、です。

Again, a slight change in the construction for the third meaning:

Plain form verb + だけ + verb
い adjective + だけ + verb
な adjective + な + だけ + verb

にはつかない。
(Unicom - Bun no Rule)

For the な form in the third meaning, you use either な or だった? な-adjectiveA + な/だった + だけ+あって/に + ResultB

I couldn't find だけでなく (not only...) anywhere. Doesn't it warrant a separate entry of its own?

I don't quite follow - I believe だけ で(は)なく is just a negation of だけ, so I don't think it is a wholly different entry.

1. Example from "2/3: Only A、Just A"

このにだけいる。

This kind of dog exists only in Japan.

      • Incorrect binding for . It should be "しゅ" instead of "たね"

2. I found a possible bug.

Steps:

2.1. In a sentence click the down arrow (the red one with a tool tip: "This sentence is not useful/too hard/incorrect."

2.2. Open dictionary (without submitting the changes)

      • The up (green) and down (red) arrow disappears.

Thanks, will rebuild that sentence soon.

The second thing is not really a bug, just a limitation due to the popup system for the site. Not ideal, just not a bug exactly.

in the image above, an instance of the pattern verb(plain form) + だけ + verb(any form) , I didn't find it in the grammar library and I think is worth adding, not sure if it goes here or in a separate entry.

it actually has 2 uses, well explained at this link : https://japanese.stackexchange...
quoting what they said:

There are basically two patterns to this verb-だけ-verb construct.

1) 「Verb in Attributive Form + だけ + Same Verb in any form」

meaning "to [verb] to a degree". That degree is generally fairly limited.

2) 「Verb in Potential Form + だけ + Same Verb in any form」

meaning "to [verb] as much as possible"

Alright - I'm going to clean up the entry currently in there, then add a couple more instead of trying to mix the different nuances into a single entry.

I always like seeing the screenshots where you find this stuff.

What’s the difference between this and だけで?

だけで is a combination of だけ (only/just) and the particle で (by). For example:

そのているだけでく。 = I feel calm just by looking at that painting.

だけでしてもいいですか。 = Can we talk, just by ourselves/just the two of us?
